pirated disk - ebay

You don't half get around HOTHOTHOT.
As already mentioned it depends on the content of the disk. If you have paid for something that is freely availble then its not a pirate copy, but without you telling us what the disk actually is who knowsEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
If it's an audio book of any title produced in the last half century or so it's bloody unlikely that some random ebayer has production and distribution rights, so yes you almost certainly have a dodgy pirate copy. Burned disks can have issues, particularly on big named branded players, so you could claim it was not compatable with your exquiptment and therefore does not work.0

thanks neil, I will claim it doesnt work - just to confirm, it is a blank dvd and definite copy, no label on it or guidebook, so definatly going to make the paypal claim on the basis it is not working
thx for the excellent replies. :beer:0 -

You do not actually know what the content on this audio book is so how can you make an assumption that points straight to it being fake. Yes if it is something like a big name language audio book its likely to be a copy, but if its a small time self help audio book that could have simply been made by a life coach the seller for all you know could have the rights to sell it, or the seller might be infact the maker of the audio book.
Unless you know the full details it could be a fake but with the same token it could be genuine. Its hard to tell from the limited information from the OPEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
hi, it was this audio book http://www.nightingale.com/Prod_Detail~product~Delta_Sleep_Solution.aspx
I paid about 30% of the originals price but all I got was an obvious copy (looks nothing like the disk on the real websites picture).0 -
Assuming you paid roughly $27 for it, you may as well take the disk to trading standards before you make a PP claim. By taking the disk to trading standards, it means that you wont have to pay to send it back-instead you must destroy it. Dont open a PP claim early as they want written proof fairly quick-remember to leave appropriate feedback before though. Ive now found I cant leave feedback once my item was forcibly refunded to me via PayPal. This has happened with two sellers0

It will cost more in time and petrol to go to trading standards than to send it back for £1 something in the post. So im going to claim it was defective (didnt work) and send it back. thanks very much - I will make sure to leave negative feedback first. Hope you get better luck in future.:j thx0 -
fair enough. I was going to suggest sending it to France(I know that would cost, yes) but something would be done about it, same with TS. I suppose it is cheaper to post it back at £1.05(select your packaging carefully-Id use packaging that covers the disk, but also goes through as a small letter)
In other words, get a C5 envelope, put the disk in it, fold the envelope so that the disk is snug. Sellotape it up. Send it back 2nd class recorded and give the tracking to PayPal.
Remember to report their listing as well for pirated disks and maybe even a NPS?
With me, I didnt lose out greatly financially-just to send the items back, just lost the chance to leave feedback for the items-Oh I forgot it was 1 item that didnt arrive and 1 that was a SNAD0
