Network Railcard for overseas visitors?

The Network Railcard is a good deal for off-peak rail travel if you live within about 100 miles of London.

It can be purchased at a station by supplying your name, address and email address and is immediately valid to cover a party of up to 4 adults + 4 children. It costs £25 and is valid for a year. Savings are 30% for each adult and 60% for each child.

I've read the conditions and it doesn't state that the address must be in the UK. As I have some American friends visiting the UK in the summer I would like them to have one to cover their rail travel. Can anyone confirm that that they will not be refused if they use their US address on the application?
Nice to save.

If they are visiting, why not give them your address?

I'd considered that but in these days of identity theft I'd rather have just myself using my address on application forms. If they can use their own address it will keep things simple and they could apply when they arrive. I've already got one for my address.

Maybe I could suggest they use 'Mr. G Brown, 10 Downing Street, London, SW1A 2AA'? After the last 24 hours he may have moved.:D
    Nice to save.

A friend of ours from Florida got a Senior card when she was here a couple of years ago - no problem, just bought it at a station ticket office.

If overseas visitors intend doing a lot of travel by train it may be cheaper for them to buy a "Rover" type ticket before they get to the UK.
