Anti Slip....ASR? in snow.

Soft southerner calling!

I have a Fiat Punto, and the torque/grip in the ice seems appalling. It is almost impossible to get a slow crawl to get out of icy situations.

The car has an 'ASR on/off' switch. I don't quite understand the effect of this, is it better to pull away with it on or off.

Thanks

How does turning off the anti slip traction control help if you are slipping?
Turn it off if you want to play on Asda's carpark.

Because sometimes you need the wheels to slip to get going. If you leave it on the engine is just fighting the brakes.
