    Ok day has past.

I rent and in contract it states I cannot change elec and gas supplier. But Eon dont know that! So rang them yesterday to quiery why gas bill hadnt been on latest bill only electric and to get a statement as I pay £30 weekly as had a previous outstanding balance but also when it comes down I intend to still pay weekly as it helps cash flow but should really be paying £20 a week.

Anyway! So I got info I needed and they asked to to ring back with meter reading to get a proper bill and ask me for more money and I thought hmmm... ask for discount. So i did and low and behold I was not on the cheapest tarriff!! So now I will save at least £47 a year

    :)

    Hi Fluffy

Well done on changing to a better tariff with us. It's good to keep an eye on your account as things are always changing in this industry.

Have you registered with our website? This will help you keep track of your account. There is a link in my Personal Profile.

You can enter meter readings online, see what energy you are using, check your payments and view bills. However, this will result in paperless billing which may not be what you want.

I do understand your landlord doesn't want you to change supplier but I would still pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites and see how we stack up. If another supplier can do you a better deal I would have a chat to your landlord about a possible switch. As you say, every bit helps.

If you do decide to change supplier, please be aware we don't give discount on final bills. Therefore, it would be better to time a move to lessen the impact of this.

Another way of reducing your bills is by cutting back on the amount of energy you use. We can help you with this, too.

Have a chat with our Energy Efficiency team. Give them details of your appliances and they will be happy to advise of ways you might cut back.

Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of useful energy saving tips.

Check out the energy efficiency pages on our website; particularly the interactive house, energy menu and Winter Advice Bureau. More good tips here.

Hope this helps Fluffy. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help further and good luck with the money saving. :)

Thanks for the tip Malc! I went on the website and set up account and also realised I can claim Tesco Club card points too which I was unaware of!

So its all set up but im still trying to cut down on energy use by doin as many little things as possible, like not leaving my phone on charge all night and cutting down how much I use the tumble dryer (which i used all the time).

    Thank you for advice Malc!:T

Had letter from westcot today with statement. I dont owe £4700 like I though I did, I only owe £4383.90 which at least is a bit less than I though.

But the water bills for shop and house now at overdue stage so will have to beg for a bit time on those.

Is it just me or when you think your starting to sort stuff out thats when another bill is in the post box?

Not feeling very postive today. Having to help OH do his tax return isnt really helping the problem while at work but has to be done :(

  • So, not been here for 3 weeks. Ive lost the momentum from before and ended back in a rut. I have brought some amounts down but just been feeling very very low at the moment.

have paid towards the supplier1, loan1, and supplier2 and Ccard. slightly brought down but just really really low felling inside.

Mostly think personal problems are effecting me in so many ways. Ive lost focus and just find it hard to drive forward.

Homemade cooking has kept me sane but not kept my belly at bay. I have been eatting too much as I just have got so down. Spent an hour at work today crying over nothing.

Over a month since last post! Meh...

I had just lost the will to do anything. Like everything I did was hopeless. But somewhere in there Ive had glimmer of hope. Think thats it though, only a glimmer but surely worth a punt?

    Ok so...

1.)I am nearly up to date with business rates and totally up to date with CT!! First time in 3 years :) I have payment card for CT now too so will make weekly payments to help my cash flow. Non Doms should be upto date in the next week or so all going well.

2.) I am controlling my phone spend better now. Finding O2 online such a big help in controling what I spend. Doing a few more non O2 mobile calls on shop phone too as it is cheaper plus tax decuctable lol.

3.) Starting to use the Eon pre pay card more to pay off outstanding balance and eventually pay towards the next bill. Ive been told I could put in Monthly Meter Readings to keep me totally upto date on my online account.

4.) Tesco Vouchers came in. And just recently another set (are these coming out quicker now?) I would normally use to x4 them for Bella Italia but to be honest shopping is more important. So armed with vouchers bought things like wash tablets, hair ect that were on BOGOF saving me money all over.

    Hi Fluffy

Give us a call if you're really struggling with the outstanding balance. It may be possible to spread the balance over a longer period of time. Not promising but certainly worth asking the question.

You can definitely enter meter readings online, up to a maximum of 6 per billing quarter. I'm sure this will help you keep a handle on your usage.

Check out the Energy Tracker as well. You'll find it on the left hand menu on the opening page of your online account.

This gives a graphic summary of how you are doing compared with the previous year. I find it alerts me to any sudden changes so I can investigate before the situation becomes too bad.

Hope this is useful, Fluffy. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so and keep battling.

    Malc :)

    Hi Malc

Not struggling with it too much yet but thank you for your advice! :)

Thanks for the online help too. Had look on the tracker and was amazed at the useage info so that will help loads. Think with the cold winter it has put amount gas used up but was great to see that the little changes I have made have put my elec useage down :j

    Once again thank you :)

No problem, Fluffy. Glad to help.

The cold weather has definitely had a major impact on most people's bills; it certainly has on mine. :snow_grin

Really pleased you like the Energy Tracker. I'll pass your comments on to our website bods as they are always looking for feedback - both good and bad.
