really smelly MDF

I have just bought a sheet of MDF and as i drove home i noticed it gives off a really horrible smell is this normal and how can i get rid of the stink!

i bought it to do jigsaws on so can't wah it incase it warps - help please i daren't bring it in the house

    I think the smell is something to do with chemicals used in the manufacturing process, and I have a feeling it may contain formaldehyde.

    I think you will find most thins wood wise in the house contain formaldehyde?
    If you are worried give it a coat of varnish this should get rid of the smell.
