Also do the plumbers out there have any tips on plumbing new cold fill machine machine in? When we tipped old machine we kept the hoses attached ready to re-use rather than use new ones as Mr Apples said they always leak so easier just to connect old hoses to new machine. How will it work with cold fill only?

(from the website I've already mentioned, just thought it would be quicker when hubbie gets home)
Good luck

We just got the 1600 spin Hotpoint Aqualtus at the beginning of the month and it washes clothes great using just normal washing powder from Aldi.I was a bit worried about the cold fill only bit as well but it works a lot better than the washing machine we had that had both. We do also use Calgon water softener as well but that is just because the water in North Yorkshire is hard as.It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

If you have a hot water tank, might be worth cutting down the hours a bit since the washing machine isn't using any now.
Electric wise, new machines use around 10 Litres per wash, nothing much to heat really, and combi boilers would hardly have heated the water by the time the fill was switched off, thus cold fills are mainstream now.
Powders/Liquids/Tabs - use whatever you prefer.

Out of interest, where did you find this out? If this is true it's a wonder they didn't start cold fill only years ago - they must be cheaper to manufacture.0 -
I have a newish LG machine and it has both hot and cold fill. However it only seems to fill with hot water if you do a 60 degree wash. I know this as we have a combi boiler and I couldn't understand why the boiler didn't fire up when the washing machine was filling. I would have thought it was more expensive for the machine to heat the water than the gas boiler - so this is all news to me.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Um yes beacuse heating the water in you hot water tank is so much Cheaper
when your tank holds let say 100ltr you use 30ltr of very hot water in your machine ( now 30ltr of cold water stright from your mains pours into your hot water tank and makes it warm which then sets of your theromstat and heats up the tank to hot again which then empties 30ltr of hot water into your second load etc etc etc.THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0
