Try putting him onto a hyper allergenic food and only give hyper allergenic treats (no titbits). It may be he is sensitive, and other foods are making him itch/uncomfortable. Our dog is on hper allergenic food and it only takes one bowl of 'ordinary' food and she begins licking and worrying her bum and anal gland area.

I wonder if its the bone he got at christmas hes been at it for days im going to bin it and see if that helps.
He always been on the same food since we got him he dont get any titbits other than rawhide chews.
I will see if he stops after a few days when i take the bone away.:jBaby Finley :j

Oh I do feel for you - Zara smells a day after a visit to groomers:rolleyes:
And nobody can work out why.
It is always worse when she is unwell - she had an ear infection a few times and that made the whole of her smell like.. ermmmmmm
But if the dog was checked by a vet and the vet found nothing wrong... try nose plugs?

I wouldn't have thought it was the bone, it tends to be with food with artificial additives, colourants etc. Having said that, I know some bones you can buy have been soaked in goodness knows what in order to make them taste/smell more appealing. If it's that sort then yes, I would take it off him.
Have a look at his feeds ingredients for any e numbers or mention of artificial flavourings etc etc. Even if he has been fine with it until now, he may have become sensitised to it and it could be time for a change.

Hes on royal cane and naturediet.
The bone was a beef one hes never had beef before only normally has chicken, fish or turkey.
I will look at the ingredients now.:jBaby Finley :j

I agree with Olias: allergies can definitely develop over time to something that did not previously cause a problem, or the formulation of the product can change. I have to change facial moisturiser every few years as I will suddenly get contact dematitis .... The dog might also have parasites, so might be worth getting the vet to run some tests.
If you think the smell might be food-related, you could ask the vet to do allergy testing which might be covered on your pet insurance policy. Alternatively you can try an elimination diet where you find a protein that the dog hasn't been exposed to and just feed that. Note that the dog can be allergic to a meat cooked that he is fine with raw as heat treated denatures (changes) the proteins.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
The smell is 100% anal and only while hes licking . The vet has done tests but say everything was fine i asked about changing his food but the vet said hes in very good condition skin, fur, weight so not to.:jBaby Finley :j
