What feedback should I leave?

Hi, sorry for rambling on but what feedback (if any) do you think I should leave, and what do you think I should say?
Negative? Don’t know – after all I have now got what I paid for. And I know if I leave a negative for him he will do the same for me – even though I paid the day I bought it.
Positive? Don’t think I should – It did take so long to get here – was it lost in Germany? Or was the guy just trying to delay me because he knew I would be unhappy with the charger and hoped I wouldn’t claim?
Neutral? Maybe – but what do I say?
I normally never buy from abroad and don’t know what possessed me but I bought a Nintendo DS console and games on 24/05/06 from a guy in Sweden. I e-mailed on 29/05 to see when to expect the parcel. He replied it had been sent on 27/05 and I should receive by end of week.
Anyway, didn’t arrive so I e-mailed again on 06/06 to see if he could trace it. He replied saying that the parcel had been traced to Germany and was now on its way to UK.
Still hadn’t received it by 13/06 so e-mailed again to which he replied with a tracking number
I don’t know if he didn’t expect me to check it or not but when I checked on Danish Posts website I was surprised to see it had been “received by Danish Post” on 14/06. I queried this with the seller and he replied that the postoffice in Germany had to resend it to Denmark because of the time limit the package had been in Germany. Danish post then resent to Britain again.!!!
I thought this was a bit strange and thought this sort of information would have been included on the tracking information on the website but being the trusting type, I gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, parcel arrived 17/06 but there was no power supply/charger including, meaning the console could not be used after a few hours when the power ran out.
I contacted the seller immediately and he replied 18/06 to say he had posted it that day.
Knowing that I only have 30 days to claim through Paypal, I was starting to think if the above were all delaying tactics for some reason to take me outwith this time period so when I still hadn’t received the charger by 22/06 I registered a dispute with Paypal claiming the item was not as described.
I e-mailed the guy explaining why I had done this and it was only to safeguard myself in case the charger didn’t turn up and I would end up having to buy a new one.
He replied via paypal that he had told me he would send the charger when he got a chance as he works!! which was untrue as he had told me he had already posted it.
Anyway, picked the charger up today from the post office and checked the tracking number on it - he only posted it on 22nd, the day I registered the claim. Unfortunately it is a two pin charger so I can’t use it anyway.
Now I know this is probably my fault, for not asking if it was a UK charger or not but to be honest – as I bought it from ebay.co.uk it never even crossed my mind that it would be anything different.
Oh - and I forgot to say, he contacted me again through Paypal on Sunday night to say he would send my son another DS game as consolation for the mix up with the postage - as long as I cancel the dispute first!! Was this meant to be a bribe?

You can safely use the charger with an adaptor. Just a cheap plug adaptor, nothing fancy.
As to the feedback, it's hard to say, but I think in your position I would simply not leave any.
The long delivery time may well not have been his fault, although it does seem he lied about the charger.0 -
What are you hoping to achieve with the dispute, now that you have the console and a charger (albeit one which you will have to buy a £2.99 adapter to use.)?
There has been some inconvenience, and yes, you should have checked what kind of plug the charger had... but you're not out of pocket, really. I don't think you have a strong reason for keeping the dispute open.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
sounds like the guy has done everything possible to help you, it's not his fault the postal system screwed up!
and, do you really expect an electrical item bought from Europe to have a UK mains plug :-)
just pick up an adaptor from the pound shop, problem solved
if anything leave the dude a positive!
"took a while to get here, forgot the charger, but now sorted A++"money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Apart not sending the adaptor originally and then lying about when he did sent the adaptor.bleugh wrote:sounds like the guy has done everything possible to help you, it's not his fault the postal system screwed up!
I certainly don't think I'd want to give an A++ for that.0 -
Sure, it doesn't sound like he's behaved impeccably, and feedback should reflect that. But I'm not sure a neg is in order, when OP has (eventually) received a fully-working item... and I think the dispute should be closed. My TV is broken!

Sorry - I should have said - I did close the dispute this morning after I picked the parcel up from the post office. As you rightly said, I had now recieved everything I had paid for so I closed the dispute.
The reason I was looking for opinions towards the feedback was because I am normally a very trusting person and had believed what he had said about the DS itself being lost in Germany but when he lied about the charger being posted and then only posting it after I had started the dispute and lying to Paypal saying he had told me he would post it when he got a chance, I was a bit more dubious about the original parcel.
The Tracking Number for the DS that he provided only showed the parcel being "received" by Danish Post on 14th June. If it had been "lost" in Germany surely there would have been some sort of explanation of this on the tracking information. Even if there was no information saying it was mislaid, then surely the "received" by Danish Post date should have been 27th May - the date he said he had posted it in the first place.
The package itself only had one set of postmarks on it and a UK special delivery sticerk. There was no indication on it anywhere that it had been in Germany, either additional postmarks or stickers or anything else.
As for the two pin socket. I admit - I was a bit naive assuming it would be a UK plug and yes - I admit that was my mistake. I am also a bit thick and didn't even think about using an adaptor which I will do (I think I assumed the voltage would be different or something).
I just wondered what others thought and what feedback they would leave after having to wait for nearly five weeks to use their purchase.0 -
heh, now you said it like that,
leave a positive saying 'took aaaaaages to arrive, seller needed prompting, all ok now tho' or somethin like thatmoney saving my @rse.

I'd leave a neutral with bleugh's comment above. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

don't bother leaving the feedback -the charger can also be used with an adaptor - if he's a switch on seller he may give you a part refund via pay-pal.. This may help and you could then leave positive feedback?Me i'm always after a good deal.. :rotfl:0
