    who the sales representative etc, All this information was legit.

    How does he know this?
    Spoke to a representative of the company over the phone to verify who my current supplier was and that I agree to the switch.

    who supplied the phone number?

    Maybe the Sales rep gave the OP a business card? Maybe the Reps name was written on the the OP's copy of the contract.


    The Sales rep probably called the power company to finalise, verify the switch and claim his commission.

    wow paranoia is running wild in here, ok yeah some random bloke has come to your door for your details to steal your ID!!!! Seriously what a load of crap! Where did he get the forms from??
    Power companies do ask for your date of birth as part of security for when you contact them or they contact you, and people do come to your door for gas an electric switching, same as people do for windows, talktalk etc. Dont go panicking and closing down your account, or worrying too much. Chances are your contract is long gone and ruined by now so chill and focus on getting cheaper energy.
