If I apply for voluntary redundancy and it is refused - can I then be made redundant?

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help?
My company are making redundancies of over 150+ people and we have all been invitied to apply for voluntary redundancy if we wish.
The consultation process is still on-going and no criteria for compulsory redundancies has been finalised/announced yet.
My question is; if i apply for the voluntary package and get refused, can i then later be made redundant? If I am made redundant am i entitled to the voluntary package?
Thanks
Matt

I would say your company should have given you details of this, or your union/employee rep should have the answers.
However.....
As I'm in an identical situation...our company have said the following:
Yes - you can be refused VR if the business needs are not met (or they desperately want to keep people with your skills/experience)
Yes - you could be made compulsory redundant in time to come.
The company needs to assess the numbers applied for via your VR process. If it's undersubscribed they might invite people in a second wave of VR's or make compulsory.
No - they cannot confirm whether you would receive the same package, as really, it would cost them far less to pay you statutory redundancy pay.
I am counting down the days (till 9 Feb) myself to hear if I can escape!!!0
