i need a bit of help.

i have spoken to a couple of my original insurers today to try and get some old policy numbers which i will probably need to confirm for my case in terms of having alternative insurance for my income.

neither were able to help me over the phone.

both policies were from jan 2000 and were cancelled after a year as i could got a better deal elsewhere.

will a SAR give me the information i need or will it only go back 6 years.
i have the policy number for one of them, but they were un-able to acknowledge this number as it was so old and could not let me know exactly how much the cover or policy was for.

will barclaycard be able to get this information if i just give them the details as this may be an easier option for me, putting the ball in their court so to speak.

    any advice welcome.

An SAR may help, but cannot guarantee they still hold any of your details going back earlier than the 6 years, but some have been lucky to even receive info going back as from the 90's, so you never know, hopefully the £10 will not be wasted for this request.

If you do have any old statements at all from over the years, and find the account number then you can still try to continue to reclaim.;)

just posting the site with an update on the barclaycard and LLoyds Loan ppi claims.

i managed to find the insurance policy numbers and details and sent to Barclaycard as confirmation of my existing policies and asked them to also refer to the original letter of complaint when i filled in the form.

yesterday i recieved a letter asking that i wait for a further4 weeks, happy to do this as this will take it until 1st March, up to the end of their 8 weeks,

i will wait to see what they come back with then before deciding my next step.

Lloyds have gone very quiet and i haven't heard anything since i spoke to them about getting copies of the phone calls they refered to. They said they would contact me to arrang a delievery time (funny that).

they also have still not sent me a copy of the insurance policy terms and conditions that i requested, (only a leaflet summerising the ppi cover which then refers you to the full terms and conditions).

they did however sned me a new loan agreement to sign, with a covering letter saying it would change the terms and conditions of my loan and ppi policy, (they can go and swing if they think i am signing this). and guess what, no details of what terms and conditions would change.

so far out of the 2 companies Barclaycard seem to be the easiest to deal with.
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free

Hi, have you put it in writing about the terms and conditions request etc only you state "after you spoke to them". I would really get it in writing and get a proof of posting too and maybe you will get a better response.
  • thanks

will request in writing, didn't think of that,
although i have since then requested a SAR, i am assuming they should be in there, not too worried about waiting for that to come through. Should be with me by 1st March according to Lloyds.

    cheers
