Make/model? Will it boot into Safe Mode? (Press and hold F8 at start up, then choose 'last known good config'.
It's looping because Windows is failing to load and the default is then to attempt to reboot it-so it will cycle endlessly until switched off.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Have you installed some new hardware / software recently?
As previous post, try safe mode and select "last known good config". If that works, it looks like you should uninstall any recent changes.0 -
I have tried the above but nothing happened, sometimes it gets to windows xp screen or it goes to checking disk but thats it. I really don't know what to try next apart from throwing it out the window!!!0

OK, so what happens when it has completed Chkdsk? Is it successful? You need to be more specific about what is actually being shown on screen. No free lunch, and no free laptop

please tell us what is the make/model of your equipment, otherwise everything is just guesswork!0

With the vague problem description, the problem could be a corrupt windows installation, which can be repaired with the original windows disc(s). This could be seen as drastic measures, and with more information an easier and quicker solution could be found.0
