Home Insurance - No Claims Bonus problem
VH
Hi
A bit of a problem with home insurance.
My house has recently been transferred into my girlfriends name (long story) so we need to renew the buildings & contents insurance and put it in her name.
I have 2 years no claims bonus but what I need to know is, is this no claims bonus transferrable to her? The current insurance is only in my name and not joint names.
Cheers

I believe the no-claims bonus applies to the house and not the person unlike car insurance but am not 100% sure, sorry. An expert is bound to come along soon :-)The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0

I phoned a couple of Insurance Companies and asked them if they would transfer the No Claims over.
If I was married - Probably.
Because I'm not - No. Doh!
Now where did I put that engagment ring?0 -
Some insurers give a first time " introductionary discount" which is similiar to 2 years anywayAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Subject to explaining to the insurer the reason for transferring the cover into your girlfriend's name, and providing she was part of the "family" residing at your address during the claim free period, I can't see any reason for an insurer refusing to transfer the discount.0
