Hi techie people.
I work for a charity advising small local charities on just about any topic that arises, and my job is about to change from being a generalist/jack of all trades, to specialising in Websites/New Media/IT.
I've designed a couple of websites and a forum already using some free online tools, and I'm comfortable with using social networking sites for a charity's benefit. However, I'd like more training that would give me a good general grounding in IT and New Media.
There are so many different courses out there. Does anyone have any idea what I should be looking for? Any advice would be really helpful at this stage, as I can't see the wood for the trees at the moment.

Probably some sort of basic web design course and html course.
then maybe some web programming (either .net, java, php), some basic database work and some basic graphic design (mostly tool use). After that there are a lot of options, either something more advanced, specalised or newer tech like flex/flash/silverlight.
bear in mind that everthing excapt basic webdesign will probably be professional courses and generally are not cheap or are idea for just a casual focus.0 -
Can you find out what sort of queries have arisen historically?
There is no way anybody can have an in depth knowledge of that entire sphere. IMO there isn't much point investing great efforts in becoming an expert in some part of it as you may never be asked questions in that area of expertise.0
