Try a proper one then!
I use my TomTom every day to do my job &, alongside paper maps, it does the job but then I use common sense & the MK1 human eyeball... works a treat!Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

maybe you weren't using them properly then. ive only used a tom tom once and own an old garmin which i use when im stuck and it never fails, i even got the maps for florida and took it there and used it fine. having said that my mate had bought a fancy top of the range tom tom and really struggled with it when he was in florida ( he is a bit of a techie mong though).
out of the older tom tom ive used and my old garmin i prefer my garmin, its very basic but does the job every time....work permit granted!0 -
stick to a good one, a tomtom or garminWork in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Ebuyer do some very, very cheap generic ones that can have either tomtom or garmin added. Chesk out the reviews on the ebuyer site for advice on how to do this....'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

stick with the well known brands as mentioned like tom tom and garmin. THe cheaper ones are ok and they do the job but you will find many of them have no map updates so will become outdated very quickly, its worth paying a little more for something that will last a lot longer, its a false economy.
I'd also recommend getting one with bluetooth if you can so you can use it with your phoneEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

I have tom tom 740 go with european maps and it is great. On occasion it may be difficult to get a satellite signal, so always have a map as a back up."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I have an older Garmin and it is pretty impressive, TTS is a good feature, it stands for text to speech and means the unit says "turn right on London Road", rather than just "turn right". I bought it as "refurbished" it came with the latest maps and a years warranty and was about £100 as opposed to £175 "new".0 -

Yep, or a Garmin. Depends on which you can find at a good price.
