Liverpool accommodation - travelodge?

I'm hoping to stay over in Liverpool for a mid week break in May to coincide with Michael Buble
I've stayed at the Premier Inn on the docks and it's lovely but I am hoping to grab a few nights in the Travelodge sale tomorrow. I've read a few reviews on the travel lodges and they all appear negative. Has anyone stayed in either the centre or docks Travelodge? We're not looking for a luxury nights accommodation, just a bed for the night but don't want to regret booking a really cheap bed.

Stayed at the docks in December - smelly bathroom that hasn't been aired ever - one of the worst Travelodge's I've stayed in - luckily it was only one night do just somewhere to put our heads down. Location was good - only £3.50 in taxi to City Centre0

We stayed in the Central one over Christmas - the room was shabby but clean. We couldn't get a remote control for the TV because apparently people keep nicking them. The location is great, but if you're travelling by car be prepared to pay quite a bit in parking fees. we parked in the nearby St Johns multi-storey at £13 for 24 hours....
Overall it was OK for £90
