No English Manual/2 Pin Round Plug for new PS3 Slim ??

Hello
I just had delivery today of my new PS3 Slim 120GB bought via Amazonmarketplace.
I was very surprised to find it had no English language User Manual (only instructions in other European languages) and it came with a European-style 2 round pin plug instead of a Uk-style square 3-pin plug.
I have emailed the supplier about this and await its reply.
In the meantime can other members of the Forum advise me if this is normal.
Many thanks in advance !!

What you have is a European model, all PS3's are multi-voltage so you just need any kettle type lead to get it up & running...What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0
-
Technically a kettle lead is different to a PC mains cable. A kettle plug has a little groove in it and is rated for a higher working temp. A PC lead is called an IEC mains cable.0

Thanks for replies.
Where do I get instructions on how to operate the console ?
When I switch it on will there be a Menu with Help screen telling me what to do ?
I tried to find a PDF User Manual to download to my desktop but could not see one in Google. Does anyone have any good useful links for a beginner please ?
Sorry for such basic questions but I'm completely new to gaming and operating consoles such as the PS3.0 -

Brilliant --- thanks ever so much !!
Don't know how I could have missed it in my Google search - old eyes must be failing me !!
I saw this power lead and ordered it from Amazon which will hopefully do the job

Is this OK to use ?0 -
That's got "us" in the URL so could be the US manual. The UK PS3 support site is here and it contains a link to the manual in PDF:totalsolutions wrote: »http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/Manuals/PS3

Assuming it's an IEC plug connector with the three pins built into it like this:
Then you may have a spare lead from a computer, monitor etc as they usually always come with them. Or you may know someone who does.

This is what fits radio cassette players (remember them?) so if you have one lying around somewhere and this is the right one for the PS3 then it will fit.I saw this power lead and ordered it from Amazon which will hopefully do the job

I'm not familiar with the PS3. You have the foreign lead with you.
What sort of connector is on the end that goes into the PS3? Is it like in the picture I linked to above? Is the flex round or flat?0 -
Right. A little digging on the internet suggests that it is a 3-pin "IEC" connector, the type in the picture I posted. This also concurs with what others suggested so I would cancel that one from Amazon as it won't fit. What sort of connector is on the end that goes into the PS3? As I said, you may well have such a lead from an old computer, printer, monitor or whatever, or if not, then someone you know will.0 -
I've re-read your original post again, and I see it's a PS3 Slim which I do believe uses the two-pin connector you ordered. So unless you know you have one from an old video recorder, tape player, DVD player, etc then the one from Amazon you identified will fit.0

Thanks for the second link to UK site - at a quick glance the manual looks same as US but probably safer using the UK version.
The power lead's cable is flat and it has 2 holes shaped like Figure 8 at end to connect to the 2 prongs on the console. This is the same as the one I ordered in Amazon which however has a UK-style 3 square prong plug..
I've just recently returned to Scotland after long period living abroad so unfortunately I don't have potentially useful bits and bobs in house - therefore have to buy a suitable cable.0
