Just need some expert advice.
My current tyres - recommended are 185 / 70 R 14 88H but rubbish summer tyres.
My car is currently stuck and can't go forward or reverse due to a small amount of snow. I blame it on the rubbish dunlop (aka dunflop) tyres - recommended by honda. Dunlop SP Sport 300
I am looking at getting an all-season tyre with the following - 185/70 R14 92H.

The difference is only the loading capacity, which is actually better.
Do you know if I can do this?

it's nothing to do with the tyres, it's down to the driver, take some driving lesons, then you might be able to drive in the snow0

Erm...don't think so. So why did I manage to drive up a steep hill with my partners toyota yaris and my own honda struggled to get up?
And....I still need an answer. Please don't answer if you are not giving a true reply.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Really? Tyres losing traction on ice is down entirely to driver error and nothing to do with the level of friction between the tyre and the road surface?
I can put you in touch with plenty of drivers who would disagree with you, all of whom will be a better driver that you are (with the greatest respect of course) and all of whom will have had far more experience of driving on ice that you will have had (again, no disrespect intended).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Oooo arghhh. Once again, still does'nt help me. Just because you like drive on ice - like dancing on ice representatives, does not mean all people can.
Next.... need a proper answer for the question and not stupid remarks about driving skills.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Have you considered that your tyres may be very worn and have little useful tread depth left - whereas your partners tyres aren't?
Either way, there are thousands, if not millions of drivers managing OK on "rubbish summer tyres" (not that "summer tyres" exist, per se) . 2nd gear, gentle on the clutch - simples.0 -

Yeah. Tried 2nd gear, 3rd gear etc. Tried reversing and going back. Worked early on but coming back, got stuck again. My house and drive way as well as getting to the house is on a steep slope! I mean steep! Like a hill.
I managed to get it out for work this morning but today it is stuck. Could'nt be bothered doing anything more. Shoveled the snow etc but will try again tomorrow.
The tyres definitely are not bald as they are all brand new. I replaced only this year.
As for driving - I do know what I am doing. I am only looking at getting better tyres to prevent me from getting out of this situation in the future.
The car is a honda civic.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Hang fire mate before you get all defensive. I'm not saying anything about your driving ability. I'm saying that the standard and quality of tyres does have an affect on your vehicles ability in snow. Something that the poster above me suggested wasn't the case.
Perhaps my sarcasm towards ilikesimpsons didn't come across as well as I'd expect it to.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

My apologies.
All I can say, is my car is rubbish and the tyres included. Every car I have seen has not struggled on the road. Only two makes fail on my road! Honda Civic and the dread Fiat Punto (neighbours car)! Even a dreaded T reg old Renault Clio got up.
On a serious note, I am definitely ok driving in snow or ice. It is the stupid car which is dangerous due to the tyres. Yesterday's snow was dangerous. My brake lights (both) packed in during my 4 hours drive back home - which usually on takes 20 minutes. I managed to get home and get up 4 hills on the way home. On the way, a bus crashed, a lorry crashed and most cars gave in and parked on the side. And................guess what? The car struggled to get home at the final hurdle! The corner to my stupid house. Really cheesed me off.
30 minutes down the line, the mrs car comes around the corner. She struggled and I jumped in and that car got over fine. Tyres are better but the car is higher and has better traction. The stupid is too low and it is a racing car. Serves me right for wanting a sports car.
I am trying to save the monies and I believe the all-season tyre may have to be done. Can't believe I have to fork out more money for this lump of metal. Might be a good excuse for a new car.
Can't believe I will be up in the early morning with a stupid shovel and maybe cardboard. I have ran out of rock salt and sand. Arghhhh. Might just borrow the mrs yaris. Can't be bothered and just let nature do it's cause. Come on SUN!!! Snow is on the way tonight. Arghhh.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
