Kitchen makeover

Hello,

I have a quote of £3060.00, plus VAT, so basically just over £3.5K to makeover my kithcen. This will involve keeping the existing units, just putting new cupboard doors on, taking off the pelmets or whatever they're called that go on the tops and bottoms of these units and putting new ones on that match. It also involves making three new cupboards entirely for spaces that I want to fill. Also, removing a unit that juts out into the middle of the kitchen to free up some space. New worksurfaces, too. Price is installed, and includes handles and all else that is needed.

Number of units: 1 big full size larder unit; 5 doubles units, 4 single units.
Worksurfaces approx. 14 foot of length required.

So, does this sound like an ok price? I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance,

Duncan

    Really?

When I got a quote from Wickes a few months back it got to over £10k, which is why we backed away and went for the makeover option, instead.

Would love to hear how you'd do such a thing, Jay?

    Thanks,

    Duncan

Well just say that i am installing a kitchen next week that includes ripping out old and installing new, new tiles, decorate whole kitchen for 900 labour
customer has got all materials and that only come in at 2300 all from B&Q,
This was ordered before their half price sale aswell so you could get even cheaper.
The kitchen consists of 3 wall units and 8 base units and 2 mitre joints on worktops

I am sure it depends on the quality of fittings and size of kitchen.

We had a makeover which was about £3500 + cost of worktop which came to another £1000 + large steel handles another £200. The joiner made light oak doors to fit existing units, made two double large draw units.

I bought a baumatic wine cooler and he made a unit to fit it so it looks built in along with quite a few design ideas - music system and cd rack built in to a cuboard, made an island unit on wheels, cuboard inserts of trays, chopping board to fit draw, book cuboard with door rather than open corner - which made the kitchen a one off.

So rather than off the shelf B&Q kitchen I've got one which looks bespoke and top end.

If a joiner does it you can add touches as you are going on and hopefully if it's a good company will throw in some good ideas for free.
