blood in dog urine

Options
Hi, noticed my dogs wee was red last night in snow (1 year old lab), hubby took him out this morning and said it was fine, Took him out again tonight and he urinated a few times and a couple of times it did look red again. I will phone vet asap in morning but thought someone might have experienced this and may be able to shed some light. He is otherwise fine and dandy.
thanks in advance

  • vets asap - could be any number of things, from minor to serious, and we cannot give any medical advice on here, as it could so easily be misleading or wrong...

One of my cats had this and was otherwise fine. Turned out to be cystitis and was easily sorted by a quick injection. Hope your dog is ok.

I second bring sample. My vet shouted at me when I brought Venus to her without samples when she was weeing herself. (turned out to be old age incontenance sorted out with tablets)
  • Yep. Vets with a sample. No more to say here as it's against board rules...

Thank goodness. Blood in urine was Kidney disease and end for mine. Hence I wouldn't have answered your original post.

£107 fee. How much do you have to pay? I am comparing for my six year old which would be £70 excess, so not good.

Glad she is on the mend.

Glad he is on the mend.

Of the £107 how much is excess? I am comparing at present and best is £70 for a six year old.

Hi, the excess is steep at £80 but I know that next week he is going to cost us at least another £50 for follow up visit and urine test. He also had crystals in his urine so that needs monitoring for some time and may need more treatment. Have contacted insurer for a claim form, does anyone have any idea whether claiming will massively bump up premium?
Vet didn't shout out me for not taking a sample but gave me a bowl and told me to walk him round carpark and try or come back tomorrow with one - he is a nice vet though after a prostate check think the dog may disagree.
