Paid too much off my credit card, now in credit

I recently decided to transfer my £1000 HSBC credit card balance to a Virgin MBNA card. When after a few weeks I hadn't heard anything from virgin money, I paid off the full HSBC balance with money I had come into unexpectedly. Today i received my Virgin credit card and logged onto HSBC internet banking and Virgin had completed my balance transfer; now my HSBC credit card is £1000 in credit! I am going to phone HSBC in the morning and ask what my options are, but i want to know if anyone here knows if it is possible to transfer the credit on the HSBC card to my HSBC Current account, or can I cancel the balance transfer and get my fee 2% fee back etc.

You can cancel the balance transfer and they should be able to reverse the money back to where it came from but I do not think for one moment that you will get your balance transfer fee back.

HSBC should be willing to transfer the exta £1000 that you have overpaid to your current account (or send you a cheque)
