Our dogs know the words chicken, food, dinner, bed and walkies! Amazing isn't it? They can't seem to get the hang of words like sit, down and off though!!:rotfl:
Lol! Mine too...she knows Dinner, W. A. L. K. , wheres your lead, chicken, Nanny Chickens (MiL every sunday, guess what they have), Auntie Treats, and What Have You Done (slinks off).
She cannot grasp no, sit, stay, wait, STOP, fetch or leave it!:rotfl:With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0 -
Mine also have a good vocabulary and can understand the usual words of walk, chicken, treats, outside for wee etc.
They also have exceptional hearing, they can hear the rustle of a packet of biscuits :rolleyes:the rustle of their treats being opened  the movement of their leads:rolleyes:
They also have good eyesight and can recognise my dog walking gloves :rolleyes:dog walking boots:rolleyes:dog walking coat:rolleyes:
Ask them to leave it, and they run around thinking 'what a great game this is going to be' :rotfl: especially if they grab a dirty pair of pants from the washing pile, hey hey, it's gonna be better if visitors are in the house
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

Blooming heck that Border Collie is clever, no wonder they gave her a secret identity! Very interesting show. Although was it just me that was really unhappy about those foxes in Siberia?0

Good programme. Caught it by chance and I have to agree with what they said about how intelligent dogs can be. I can also tell between the different barks my dog has.
We have a rescue dog (terrier cross) who is the best dog I have ever had. She is my best friend and I love her more than some of my human relatives :rotfl:
I do not believe that dogs can only see in shades of black and white, as some of the experts suggest.
My dog has two balls which are exactly the same. One red and one yellow one, and she can tell the difference between the two colours. They are usually in the garden and when we ask her to fetch the yellow one...off she trots and comes back...with yes you've guessed it the right one !!
She also has various different toys and when we ask her to fetch a specific one, she will go and look for it. If she can't find it, she will bring back something else. We tell her "no..we told you to fetch squeeky" She will then drop whatever toy she has found and go off to search for "squeeky"
We also play hide and seek with her toys and she won't give up, until she finds it.
Here's a picture of my little girl.

Thankyou...we think so too.
Everyone who meets her, instantly falls in love with her, as she is so friendly and lovable. She is also the only dog that I have ever had, that loves to fetch. It doesn't matter whether or not you remember to take a ball out with you, she will play with a stick, plastic bottle....anything you can find actually.

She brings so much pleasure into our lives, and every day with her is a joy.
If someone were to offer a million pounds for her, I would refuse to sell. When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!0 -
Grrrr wuff, somebody phoned in the middle of this so I missed about half of it. I'll have to look for it on iplayer tomorrow.
I don't have a dog (I have cats) but my friend and I wind up her dog by talking about his BALL, going for a WALK, talking about his mate SAM, his other human friend MUM, and his favourite snack JAMMY DODGER in loud voices. You can see his little face getting all excited.
TBH though dogs, and other animals, are more intelligent than we can possibly imagine. It's just that they are intelligent in a different way to us - they are not human therefore their brains work in a different way. We could learn so much from them if we could unlock their secrets.0
