Help upgrading Laptop

Hello all,
Id like to upgrade my laptop to make it quicker and so that it runs better. I dont no what is in at the minute memory wise etc but i havent upgraded it since buying it new so it will be how they made it. I have a Emachine D620. If someone could post links to the things i need to buy "preferably cheapest prices
) I would be very grateful.

It has two RAM slots and can have a maximum of 2GB. If you right click on 'my computer' and then click on properties it will show how much RAM you have at the moment.

If your laptop already has 2GB this should be ample, even if you run Vista. When you say it runs slow, does it take a long time to start up? You might want to disable or uninstall applications which get started initially when the machine boots.
How much free space do you have on your hard disk? If there is low space on the system partition (C drive) this can slow the machine down. Try defragmenting the hard disk, which can improve performance.0
