have you checked the manual?? it could indicate your plugs are wearing maybe?? is the van starting ok first turn of the key?? like you said it could just be the cold, have you re started the van after driving for 10 mins or so and does it do again then or just from the first cold start up?Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

it probably is jsut the cold messing with it a little if its starts i wouldnt worry to much, just keep an eye on it when the weather warms up a littleEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Some glow plug lights will stay on for a short while once the engine has started.
Does it go out after a short period? That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
starts ok goes out then starts to flash but its only run for about a minute then I stop the engine0

Try and find and join a forum for the make you have?, then look at the fault finding chart?, sounds like some thing is wrong, look on a well known auction site for a diognostic code reader(25-40 pounds)and save going to your local realers at huge expense0

My X type did the same a couple of weeks ago. Started on three cylinders, spluttered then stopped, glow plug light flashing. Handbook told me nothing.
Left it and tried again and it started OK after the third attempt.
Advice I read was to turn the ignition to wanring light stage then turn it off again doing this three times to give the glowplugs three heating cycles. This has worked every time.0 -

My van did the same this morning at about -6, turned ignition on, glow plug light on, took longer than normal to go out but when it did it started first touch as normal.
After about 200yards the light came back on and stayed on for maybe a couple of miles. I presume it’s temperature related in that even though it was running the block etc was so cold that it was below the switch on point for the glow plugs0
