Hi

it could be a couple of reasons:
Which ISP are you with as they may have an MTU setting (basically the maximum size of the packets that are being sent.)
If you do a search for "mtu size virginmedia" - or whichever ISP you have then it should come back with a result- Then you need to access your router setup and find the MTU setting and change it - usually the default it 1500 but many ISP's use 1492 or less.
Also your router may have a problem and cant handle the amount of internet traffic traversing it - so shuts down the connection.
Have you also tried rebooting your modem?Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
Is it just internet connection or is it total connection to the router? i.e. does the network icon in your task bar show A red cross, Two blue screens or 2 blue screens with planet earth in front of itMinds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

Hi
I am with Virgin Media via BT line. I have got the Belkin Page on by typing 192.168.2.1 but cannot find MTU setting. Where would I find the MTU setting as I am not very technical?

Hi
2 Blue screens but my internet connection LED on the router is not lit and the phone LED is flashing. I am using an old Speedtouch Modem at the moment and that is woring fine so it is not a connection fault.

Hi
Found the MTU setting it is 1492

If all else failes with MTU tweaking:
If it was working before but then stopped working have you tried a hard reset of your modem? Maybe worth trying if you haven't done so already.Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

It could also be interference from mobile phones, microwaves, portable phones. Also could be if someone is on the same channel as your's in the area and is causing interference. And last but not least, and highly unlikely, it could be someone trying to crack the password key for your router. When they do this attempt it kicks of anyone that is connected to the wifi router so they are forced to reconnect. When your machine automatically reconnects to the router, the hacker watches and captures the handshake between your router and the wifi. In that handshake is the password key to get on. They then go away and try to crack that handshake as it's encrypted.
But it's highly unlikely that last one.0 -
