Pre selected for redundancy today

Hi there, so i am a 23 year old guy, had a good job beeing paid £350 a week after tax, but have today been given a letter along with 16 others stating that i have been pre selected for redundancy as the company is really doing badly. I have a few questions, i am currently being paid but not required to work (i need to be contactable during work hours if situations arise) and have a consultancy meeting on the 12th of Jan to discuss the matter properly. I have been working for the company since 22nd jan 2007, so i was wondering how long the notice period is etc and how much redundancy pay i am entitled to/likely to get. the thing that confuses me is that they havent actually made me redundant as yet and when they do, if the notice period carrys on until after 22nd Jan 2010 will i be entitled to 3 years redundancy pay? im pretty scared at the moment seeing as i owe alot of money (considering bankruptcy) and will not be able to find a similarly paid job. I have been down the job centre already but i am biding my time as i know that i am not entitled to redundancy if i get a job before my end of notice.
Any advice on redundancy in general would be gratefully recieved

I think you have an 'at risk' letter.
Notice period runs once you know it is definielty you, so the clock isn't ticking yet.
Your statutory entitlement won't be huge at 3 years so unless you *know* the company is offering enhanced terms I'd crack on with the job hunt and take offers if you get them.
I would ask HR what the expected terms and conditions of the payouts are.Debt free 4th April 2007.

I know babes, been there, and it's easy to panic. Remember it's not you - it's that the work isn't there any more.
I would take some time to think what you really want in your next job and polish your cv.Debt free 4th April 2007.

Could try TSB. I think they have vacancies0

I'm so sorry to hear about your at risk redundancy - I also have been there - try not to panic
does your company have an EAP service? you could give them a ring for advice
google at home and you will find all your answers, and places to contact for advise etc
redundany rates are different according to your age, length of service etc - all on the internet
you don't say where you are located? London has plenty of work although the wages have dropped considerably
sign up at the local job agencies, search at the dwp site for jobs etc, update your CV - be prepared and use this time that you are still getting paid to your advantage
Good Luck0
