Ryanair - 'Nationality'

Hi
I recently booked a number of Ryanair flights.
I was born in Australia yet hold a UK passport which I use to fly around Europe. When checking in online, I always list my nationality as 'Australian' and the passport country of issue as 'United Kingdom'.

When I print my boarding passes the line 'passport check' is always printed. This is different to friend's boarding pass.
When I tried going through security at Stansted the lady referred me back to a Ryanair staff member to show my passport. Apparently I had entered incorrect information. Ryanair advised I should have listed my nationality as 'United Kingdom' and that they'd let me off the £40 fee to reprint my boarding pass. This seems crazy as my nationality is technically not British - it's Australian!
I'm a little concerned as the remaining flights obviously also state 'passport check' on the boarding passes and I don't want to encounter the same problem!
any suggestions? thanks in advance.

If you have a UK passport then just enter 'British' and there will be no problem. To do otherwise just confounds the system. So opt for the easy life!;)0

What does your UK passport say under "nationality"? Surely best to write that.0

You're simply creating problems for yourself if you carry a passport that identifies you as a British national, then go ahead and give your nationality as Australian when booking your flight. Giving your nationality as anything other than Australian on a boarding pass doesn't make you any less Australian. However, if you can't bring yourself to give your nationality as anything other than Australian, then you should travel with your Australian passport.
I hold a British and Nigerian passport myself and consider myself Nigerian. But I also like to make my life easier, so when I'm travelling to Europe, across the atlantic or to the pacific, I use my British passport and give my nationality as British. If however I'm travelling to Africa, I use my Nigerian passport and give my nationality as Nigerian.
And as my favourite merekat would say, SIMPLES!0 -

If you hold a UK passport your nationality IS British. Full stop. You can't get a UK passport if you are not British. You may be Australian as well but that's a different issue.
So you need to be consistent - nationality British, passport issued by UK (even if they did it in Oz) OR nationality Australian, passport issued by Australia (even if they did it in London)
You can't mix the two.0 -
The question isn't "where were you born" but "what's your nationality". Your nationality is what it says in the passport you are using for the flight0

I agree you are confusing things....I would read what you submitted as you were holding an Australian passport issued in the UK. My brother lives in Germany and gets his UK passport from the consulate so he would answer British issued in Germany0
