Canon IXUS 95IS

Have just bought myself a new IXUS 95 IS having had an IXUS 55 for 3 years without a problem. Although the new one is very similar I am having trouble getting volume in video mode. I have altered the settings but to no avail.
Can someone please make some suggestions as to what I am doing wrong.
I have checked the manual and tried to get help on the Canon site without much success so I have got to tearing my hair out stage. Please take pity on an old girl.
