I want to be able add tags to my photos on my XP system. I would like to be able to search for photos via tag i.e all family photos etc.

If anybody uses Flickr I like the way you can search via tag. Any suggestions?

Thanks

SB

Picasa 2 from google allows you to file photos under certain tags. its quite a good little program and of course its free!

By tag do you mean rename them as you can rename all the photos in a specific folder to one name eg:Open folder select all the jpegs right click choose rename and call them family photos and click ok they will then all be called family photos 1/2/3/4/5/6 and so on I have been doing this for a while now and it makes life a lot easier for me.

I think he means inbuilt tags as in EXIF tags. I think Picasa can partially do these. From what I can remember when I last used it, it could do things such as title, author, but not all of the available tags (there's dozens).

Most cameras should tag each photo anyway.

I've got my own tagger (wrote some code) that reads/writes tags. If I get a chance I'll polish it up (command line based at the moment) and post back.

Thanks Wolfman...I do mean inbuilt tags.
    Have a look at this:http://www.flickr.com/photos/89301771@N00/168623175/
On the right hand side half way down there are tags. Clicking on each tag brings up a different set of photos. This would be really good to achieve on my home PC.

Hope that explains better - if not at least you have seen a great photo!

I see what you mean now.
Spose it is a short cut if you like to a specific collection/album.
