Hi there, have just posted on another thread as my pc might be on the blink, so may have to buy a new one :-(. Where is the best cheapest place to get one? Have had a look around and thet seem to be going for around £300 and really cant afford that much. Just want something basic really, possibly with monitor included. Any advice?

Mesh have some in your price range but without the monitor

Probably better off looking at a second hand one from the local paper or free-adds.
If you want new you could buy them seperately
£80.70 for a 17" Monitor

PC's for £171

Yeah that aldi computer isn't included with a screen anyway. But lets not go into that. For bog standard surfing the net and a bit of work with word documents etc i would suggest that even those mesh computers were a little overpowered for you, but for their price they are an excellent buy. Personally i would reccomend you maybe look towards a laptop, it would be much more convenient for general use and will match requirements for websurfing etc.0

Yea, but laptops are at price premium....Look for a base unit in freecycle or friends old unit or in a skip ??0

It would be cheaper to fix the one you have that you mentioned in your other thread. I'd focus on that first as it sounds like a software, rather than hardware problem.
BTW do you need a monitor? What's wrong with the one attached to your current machine?
If you do decide to buy a new machine you'd get soemthing better if you can put all of your budget towards the base unit and then maybe replace the monitor at a later date. It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends

Laptop isnt an option...using my sons at the moment and its not the same, im still in the dark ages lol. THe pc i have got was built up about 8 years ago and thought that maybe its time for everything new. Knowing my luck id buy a hew HD and then somet else would go on it.
Monitor is fine just ugly..old style.
Thanks for all the replies, will have a look through some of the links0 -
DONT buy MESH. Just google for several forums of disgruntled buyers! They have been subject of two Watchdog programmes too. I got one and gave up on it after 2 years sending it back and forth and it returning with more probs than it went away with. Dumped it even though Id paid for 5 years warranty and got myself a Dell.0

How about this at Tesco?

Medion usually have a 3 year gurantee as well.
Keep your old monitor for now and then get a new one at a later date when funds allow. It's my problem, it's my problem
