Telephone cable collapse?

Hello,

You know in the street you have cables going from a post to house post to house post to house - Is that the telephone cable? One has collapsed due to the snow in my street and it's hanging across the road. I called the council to report it but my description was somewhat lacking!! I'm a bit concerned because it's only about 6ft off teh road so a large vehicle could bring the whole pole down. Anyone know who owns them?

Thanks in advance!

  • It could be a telephone or electricity cable. At that height, it is a hazard in its own right so it is probably appropriate to call the Police

yeh i'd call the police on that one its dangerous! find your local non emergancy number though if you can!
  • If it's a telephone line I'd have thought it more likely that a lorry hitting it would simply sever the cable from the pole rather than bring the pole down.

Looking outside now it's probably one of quite a number!

Thanks for your replies. I think a number of people on my street have reported it now but it is probably least of their worries at the moment!

Hopefully it's been sorted now, but from what you describe, it's an obstruction on the public highway, and potential dangerous situation to pedestrians and other property with the pole, so the police should be informed on 999 as it may cause an accident.

They can then seal off the area around it, if necessary, and inform the body responsible.
