l think its a immobiliser problem.

l now know the problem with my starting the Renault Scenic is the immobiliser. l have two key fobs and both will lock and unlock the cental locking so l do not think the fobs the problem. Now when l get in the car the immobiliser light on the dashboard is blinking slow, but as soon as l put the key in and turn the ignition on instead of going off the immobiliser light starts blinking faster.confused.gif
l have a Renault scenic 1.6 s reg 1999 8v, the fob key is black and when l press the fob the light on the fob blinks red.
Can someone tell me what immobiliser system l would have and the possible causes and how l can disarm the immobiliser, l have read that you can get a code and do it manually by the central locking button but the immobiliser light on the dashboard blinks to fast to put a new code in as l have pressed the central locking button with the ignition on and it does not slow down...
Where would the sensor board be for my immobiliser in the car as l have read some are in the black dome where the rear view mirror is and can get water in them, so how would you get the sensor out if its in the roof and some are on the steering wheel column...

    Hi stingray

I dont think it will be anything to do with the keys or the remote side of things as they are completley seperate systems to the immobiliser it sounds more like the car is not picking up the signal from the keys, there was a problem with the wiring on the scenic under the steering cowl meaning the immobiliser ariel didnt get any power. would be worth a look.
