Feel like a bad mummy

My little girl has been stuck in the house with me for a couple of weeks because of the snow here being too bad to venture out in the car. Today she watched soooo much tv because I needed to get things done and I feel bad. I had to do something online so I stuck on shrek, then my friend called and said she might come over later so more tv while I cleaned the house just in case (she didn't come). I sat down to paint with her earlier and another friend called so I was on the phone for nearly an hour leaving her to paint by herself....and more tv. Just feel like I've palmed her off all day. Bad mummy I'd be furious if a childminder did that lol

It's obviously not a regular occurrence otherwise you wouldn't be posting on here. She will be fine, you can make it up to her tomorrow by doing some fun stuff! Me and my DD had a pretty boring day TBH, I had to wait in for gas man so did a lot of housework, then when he came had to do the food shopping (which she actually loves!! Strange child!) I made it up to her by doing loads of cutting out (got rid off all the xmas cards, filled up her sticking pot, and she loves cutting out at the minute as she is only tiny so she still thinks scissors are a novelty, and making a den out of quilts.
She probably thinks it's a treat if she doesn't normally get much TV Don't beat yourself up.0 -
I don't think you are a bad mummy, did she enjoy her 'treat' of watching shreck and lost of other children's TV today?
So long as its only occasionally I'm sure its fine, and how else are you supposed to get the house clean.2009 wins: Cadburys Chocolate Pack x 6, Sally Hansen Hand cream, Ipod nano! mothers day meal at Toby Carvery! :j :j :j :j0 -

lol - oh dear - go sit on the naughty step! hun, she isnt going to need therapy for the next twenty years just because she watched shrek and more tv today than she is used to. sounds like you are a bit stir crazy too! cant you go out tomorow and play? be good for both of you. honestly, most parents find a good dvd can work wonders for getting the housework done! they watch it and you whirl around like a demented kim and aggie and its surprising how much you can do in an hour and half!0

work, marriage, and the circle continues, i am now treasuring every moment of my little grandchildrens lives.
Now enjoy..............make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Thank you for the replies. It is not a regular occurrence and she loves shrek. I do have a reasonably clean house now too:o I'll try to make tomorrow fun for her and get out and play in the snow.
