Snow getting in boiler through flue
I can hear snow, well hail, blowing through the flue into my boiler. This happened on new years day (but that was a massive amount) and I had no heating or hot water until yesterday when an engineer came to dry it all out.
What can I do to stop this? It seems that the flue is correctly installed but it is the way that the wind is blowing at the moment that is making it come in.
Is there anything you can buy and install above or around it that will allow the fumes out and keep unwanted rain and snow out?

Is your boiler a combi? I.e does it have a fan that sucks it in?
You can get guards that go on the outside wall for combi boilers whether or not they are effective or not I dont know.
If its a chimney flue then you need to get something for the chimney. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

It's a combi boiler. Do you know where I can get one of these? I've a mate who is a roofer. Would he be able to put it up or would I need an engineer?0 -
Payless !!!! Are you sure its really coming thro' the flue, I know some combi boilers will report a "blocked flue" fault code, when in fact its the condesate pipe thats frozen.. this water being backed up can produce a gurgling noise in the boiler and makes it cut outAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

payless, my namesake!
Yes, it is snow and hail blowing in. It's only when it's hailing that I can hear it. And, on Friday, I saw it melting down through the boiler onto the bench below  The boiler didn't cut out at that time. I turned it off and after that I couldn't get the pilot light back on again. When the engineer came the inside of it was soaking0
