oldagetraveller wrote:Just a warning about Cahoot from my own experience with them. Might be isolated but they have been incapable of setting up Direct Debits. One in particular for my Council Tax, three failed attempts which lost me the monthly payment option resulting in having to pay the full amount. Had to use credit card for this as it had been budgeted as a monthly outgoing!
They did not answer any e-mailed questions, particularly about the Direct Debits. On numerous occasions had to 'phone instead which still didn't resolve the issue. The only e-mail they have ever answered was the complaint about the lack of response. I think the only reason why it was answered was because I told them I was going to transfer my account which I am actually doing at the moment.
Sorry to be so negative about Cahoot.
p.s it wasn't my fault or the payees fault as the DDs are appearing on my new bank account like clockwork.
Yep.. I had this problem too... losing me insurance cover and charges by other institutions for late payments... and the cutsomer service is not that good... I'm very unhappy with them and i'm moving banks. You can pay cash and cheques in, but the cash will not appear in your account that day - it could take up to 3 days... It's more hassle than it's worth - I'm going back to my high street bank, where I can speak to a real person.0 -

Not sure what the advantage of using the Post Office counter is really, since Cahoot provide pre-paid envelopes and it's quicker (and usually easier) to pay in that way.
Yes.. this is definately a plus side..0 -

This is ok but cahoot offer like 3.5% interest vs normal banks of 0.1% interest ...i think. So for the extra bit of hassle is it worth the money devaluing in a high street bank?
Im currently in between a RBS and Cahoot Current account. I havent tried the Direct debit part yet though ..i have sufficient money to equial both banks so I think i might do this for a month or so ..so i know i wont get caught out on insufficent funds.
I dont expect anywhere is amazing changing current accounts and gives good interest aswell...or is there?0
