bad weather affecting travel to theatre

I bought my mum (who's 84) tickets for the Sound of Music for tomorrow's matinee in Manchester. She's just phoned to say that the city is gridlocked - she lives about 8 miles out and no buses have been running today - there's inches of snow and she can't get to the theatre. Ticketmaster have an automated message saying at the moment no shows have been cancelled due to the weather (although ironically it did say they may not answer the 'phone quickly due to staff shortages because of the bad weather!). They also say that no refunds/exchanges are possible..... last time I treat her to an expensive Christmas present..........:(

try ringing the theatre direct. last year we had tickets to hairspray in Feb. it was the 2nd day of the feb snow days and it was on but we couldnt get there. had no luck with seetickets but managed to explain our problem with the manager and managed to get tickets for another date later in the year.0

Where's she coming from? There were no buses this morning but some services were up and running this afternoon. The tram is also running and most trains were ok.0

just feeling sorry for myself (and my mum) - bearing in mind the United -
City match has been cancelled a day in advance due to the bad weather.... but thanks for your response.
The difference between the match and the theatre is that the former is inside!
Has tonights performance been cancelled?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Phoned the theatre - tonights performance is going ahead.
She's in north Manchester - Middleton - and buses still aren't running to/from her estate. She was supposed to be going with my sister, whose car is snowed in just outside Bury, so a bit of a disaster all round. The difference between the match and the theatre is that the former is inside!
statement from MCFCAfter discussions with the relevant parties including Greater Manchester Police, the Safety Advisory Committee, the Football League and Manchester United, the decision was unanimously reached that the game should be re-scheduled due to safety concerns ,particularly with regard to travel for supporters.Bern :j0 -
It's a lot easier to reschedule football matches though because the ground isn't used every night.
The problem with it is, if everyone who had tickets for the shows got refunds, they would lose a lot of money. If they don't cancel the show they have to staff the event, costing them money. If they do cancel it, it's sold out for the remaining run so people who are able to get to the show would not be able to go to a different one.
Whatever they decide to do, they are going to have unhappy people. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
