Desperately seeking a sledge...

Options
Can anyone suggest anywhere that have sledges in stock?
We have a 3 year old (and more to the point a 40 year old Dad) who desperately want to go sledging but we have no sledge.
We have tried our local hardware stores/toy shops/outdoor equipment shops all in vain. Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

I live in Cumbria - the nearest large town is Carlisle.
I was hoping somebody might know of somewhere online I could try which has stock.

Good question ,good to know where to get one although ordering online might mean not getting it delivered till the best snow has gone .

We are in Manchester and our sledge is in yorkshire, couldn't fit it in the car after christmas at relatives. Anyway our two have had great fun today sliding around on a for sale board that we have had in our garage for 12 year, knew I would find a use for it one day.

Be creative. Try a large tray or get some rubble sacks, the thick ones though, bin bags will not last too long. Better than any sledge as you can wrap them around you to maneouver them.

When we were kids my dad used to bring thick plastic bags home with wood in and they were nuts in the snow!

Or, do you have something inflatable such as a lilo or a boat..... Might get the inflatable duck out from Butlins as it has handles and should go like a rocket!! I knew it would get another use sooner or later.
