Putting on a face is the worst part of this. I can't let anyone know how much I am suffering. My Mum doesn't understand it at all and thinks I should just snap out of it. My other half thinks it is all his fault and gets frustrated that he can't 'make it all better' and most of my friends have disappeared. I have a couple of friends left, but I don't talk to them about it much in case they don't want to know me as well.

That's why the internet is such a godsend for me, somewhere I can be myself and talk about how things really are without worrying about losing my friends and family by being honest!

must say i also put a brave smily face on for everyone even my doc so noone really knows how i feel inside - darent admit to it because they would tell me to pull myself together....

since being about 12 its been one death after another - my best mate died at 16 and then every friend ive made has died so i just didnt bother - i got another mate for the first time in years (took about 6years before i even trusted her enough to let her close) - then, she suddenly found a new mate and dropped me - so, whats the point now?

Oh Magoogy, that's terrible. I have had a couple of friends in recent years who have died, but I can't imagine all my friends having died. No wonder you are depressed.

The only thing I would say is that being honest with your doctor (but find one that you like / can trust first) is really helpful. When all this started my Husband would tell me to go to the doctor and make me appointments. I would go along, but didn't tell him what was really going on. It was only when my Husband came in with me and told him exactly what was happening that my doctor was able to help me.

Even if you can't be open with other people try to be open with your doctor, it does help to have one person you can get it off your chest to and he may be able to help or point you in the right direction to get some help.

thanks hun but tbh i feel like i know my dr too well and cant really talk like that to him, then again, i cant really talk frank to anyone face to face - i feel too much like a fake if i begin to say whats on my mind - there are people out there with illnesses and i feel like this isnt one, even though i know it is...

it isnt only friends i have lost - i lost all my grandparents and my dad in a short space, but, so did my family, so ithink - why arent they depressed?

also, i have a huge phobia of dogs and cannot go out alone by myself - so, i have to arrange a trip out like a military operation - but, thats life eh?

Magoogy, this is an illness, it took me a long time to face up to that. When I was signed off work I kept thinking this is ridiculous, I am not ill, but I am.

I don't want to sit here telling you what to do or not to do, but things are never going to get better unless you get some support or treatment.

Could you try going to see a different doctor who you could talk to?

Alternatively maybe try a telephone helpline type thing. The Samaritans are very good at listening and not only there for when you are feeling suicidal.
Might be an idea of someone you could get it all off your chest to.

The hardest thing is taking the first step and admitting that you need help. Once that is done things aren't easy, but it helps tremendously. Until you are ready to do that we are all here for you if you need to chat.

:hello: Good morning all. I read the rest of last nights thread and found the link - I hope you don't mind?

    How's everyone doing this morning?

I know this may sound mad but I can't wait to go back to work on Monday. You see I've been off for 6 weeks for the holidays and term starts again on Monday and going to work keeps me in a routine and stops me from getting pyjamaitis.

    :hello: Morning Judi.

Not too bad this morning - kids are driving me mad because we're stuck in because of the weather. Hopefully can get them to tidy their bedrooms later ( what that means is hopefully I'll have time to tidy their bedrooms later):rotfl: . I'll have to do it anyway - their idea of tidying their rooms is to dump it all in a corner.

    ps My kids are 6,5 & 3

I know what you mean Jen about the room thing. My oldere 2 are 13 and 14. Thier romm is always a tip. I don't know what to do to help them to keep it tidy apart from doing it myself which I don't want to do. They should be old enough to do it themselves. The younger 2 are only 2 and 4 so they just like to make mess!!
  • There is already a thread running across in the Health board..

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=218401

If you pm Glad the board guide for the Arms and the Health board she can move it across and merge the two threads together which should make it easier :)
