not sure if right here,?? birthday question

hi all

my son ig going to be eight next month, he was hoping to go to laser quest which i was told was £130 for private hire for an hour upto 36 people, i though this was a good idea as they could play at their own pace without any bigger kids and it also meant he could invite alot more of his friends.

i rang up today to book this and they told me that i could only have it at that price if i booked food aswell, which is another £4ph.!!

this is going to cost too much money now (my dd is having her party the day before) so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a more cost effective and enjoyable party for an 8 year old ?(it doeasnt have to be for 36 children) lol

As DD is only 3 months I don't have much experience of hosting parties yet, however have heard lots of ideas from pupils (Primary 2-3, so 6-7 year olds). The ones I can remember were treasure hunt on bikes around farm (parents were farmers), bouncy castle hire (think this may have been in town hall due to tine of year), swimming pool party, ABBA party (watched mamma mia, etc), cooking party. The one that I remember being talked about the most was the mamma mia one and there was only 5-6 people at it.

    Hope this helps....

Thats not too dear given the numbers, a bowling party is £12 per person here so dependent upon the actual number you are inviting may work out dearer than the laser quest.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Try your local sports centre and see what they have.

I was booking a soft play party for my 5 yr old last year at the sport centre and was shocked that they do a massive range of parties for all ages at really good prices - football, wall climbing, hire the swimming pool, go on a boat trip down the canal for a pirate party

Why not take less of them and not hire the entire place?

    Is that an option?

I gather you will be in there with them so they should be safe enough...

Or stay with the plans but just invite 20 children, which would work out at £210 with the food, or just over £10 a head - same as your dd's party?
