I can't cancel my Equifax Free Trial

Goodnessme
Hi there, I took out a free trial of Equifax in December and now I'm trying to cancel it but after following the online 'Cancellation' procedure last week I haven't received any confirmation. I tried to phone the number but after waiting 20 mins on my mobile I had to hang up as it costs 20p a min and I don't have a landline.
The problem is the Direct Debit mandate won't show up till they take the first payment so I can't even cancel that via the bank.
Am I worrying about nothing and they don't send out cancellation confirmation emails?
Thanks for any advice

0800 7839421 call that Freephone number. you'll need your report reference number.
As far as I remember I don't think you set up a direct debit when doing the free trial?0 -
Contact your bank anyway and instruct them not to let a forthcoming dd go out.
Good advice and phone no. from nathhanp there.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I am having the same problem in cancelling. I can't get through on phone and they won't take email cancellation. Not direct debit, its on debit card. Costing me £15 odd a month for me and OH.0

Hi guys thanks a lot for replying. It seems I got lucky as I signed in to get my reference no. and phone the number nathanp posted and beside my Credit Reports it said cancelled so I signed into my email and I had a notice of cancellation from them :j
I did cancel last week with no reply from them and tried again today but with more assertive language so maybe that did the trick or maybe they seen me posting on here
Thanks very much for replying guys and thanks for the info nathanp, I can relax now
MyRubyRed I hope you get your trial cancelled too. Hopefully the number nathanp posted will help you but just in case I'll post the online procedure:
The online way was hard to find but basically go to Contact Us, then Click Here (where it says contact information), then there are three 'tabs', click the one that says Ask A Question, choose Credit Report (online), then I have a Question About, then Cancelling and have your Reference no. ready.
I know that might seem confusing and they should make it a lot easier but I hope it works for you0 -
MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com:hello:0 -
Thanks Goodnessme, understand and about to try. Disappointing that a company who is supposed to be helping with credit makes it so difficult
