I purchased a TV from Tesco 6 Months ago and it has been faulty since day one! I have logged all the different problems with Tesco electrical. Everything from Screen freexing to the sound going. Each time this happens (a few times every hour) i have to unplug my TV.
Tesco have now agreed that it is faulty and have asked me to return it to the store.
Clarity 42" Hdtv LCD
They are telling me they can not replace it for me and have offered to change it for a smaller one
Teknika 40" hdtv LCD
I have told them i am not happy, as my wall is cut out to take a 42" tv.
They told me i would have to pay extra for 42" Tv as they do not do this TV anymore!!
Please can someone tell me where i stand with this one??
Thank you!

Im sure with faulty items (if irrepairable) they have to offer you a replacement which is equivalent or superior to the original product so I think you should be entitled to a 42" even if its has to be a more expensive one. If they cant replace as above then perhaps you would be entitled to a refund although Im not totally sure but sure that someone else on the forum will be able to help.:smileyhea0

I one had this issue with a laptop. They tried to offer me an inferior product until i highlighted that considering the circumstances i'd been extreemly patient and one slightly better was not beyond their good will.
If they cannot offer you a replacment which fits the specifications of the TV they are replacing, tell them you would like your money refunding. This has to be done as they cannot give you a lesser item. If they can't match it the money has to be refunded.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
In short no they do not have to offer you a replacment over the vaule of the orginal TV.
You are entitled to a replacement up to the same vaule, IF you'r unhappy with what you can get from them for the value. you can ask them for a refund so you can look else where to try and get a 42".0 -
Thank you for the replies but i thought they has tp replace like for like ???0

The OP is entitled to a refund, repair or replacement.
We have taken out repair, and it cant be replaced with the same TV hence its refund time.
A look online shows the TV offered is £399.97 which suggests to me this is what the OP paid for the 42"
Might struggle to find a replacement at that price without paying extra I suspect.0
