Even if you do go down the CCA route, and can prove it is unenforceable the money is still owed and they will lodged missed payments and a default for the next 6 years. Whilst credit is probably not what you want, getting better mortgage rates, cc rates or in some cases even places to rent can be difficult to find due to failing credit checks.
Thats just a word of warning, there is no harm in asking for it, the harm can come when you decide to cease payments to them. For £1 ask for your CCA.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

If i end up in a DMP its all going to go anyway, so it doesn't matter too much.

No need to notify northern rock until you go into a DMP.

I have done the CCCS online remedy and have started that ball rolling, i opened an account with Barclays a couple of months ago (i have a barclaycard with them which i will pay off this month to keep me in the clear with them) so i think that should be ok as my new current account.
