Thanks Mrs A (and thanks to SS for digging out those old posts of mine) - I didnt do anything different than others trying to become free, just put a tight deadline on myself!! And in 3 weeks when I can finish work, it will all have been worth it!!0 -
hi Ms London
i cant find your original posts i take it that you put all your spare cash into a savings account and paid everything off. thats what i have to do because the bank and car loan wont let me over pay the only way i can clear quicker is to pay it off with a lump sum and i havent got one of those

Yes, my last debt was a £10,000 loan to LLoyds, so I basically worked out how much I needed to save to get it paid off in 12 months and saved that amount in a ING savings account and some in an ISA - so come the end of Oct I withdrew that money & asked for a balance from my loan, and paid it off like that..
At times I did feel like withdrawing the money and going travelling early, so be careful that you dont end up spending it, but on the other hand I knew that if a disaster struck (losing job or something) I would have some "savings" to see me through..
I was quite lucky in that my loan had an APR of only 2.3% - as Lloyds re-financed my original loan/overdraft - so it was only around £20 a month interest.
As for my other debts I just snowballed my money, as I couldnt get any 0% cards, and only one of my debts stopped the interest (sainsburys).
Good luck xx0 -
thank you Ms London enjoy your travels your an inspiration
