HSBC charges!

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help.

I bank with HSBC, in December (when things were tight) I forgot to cancel a £60 savings direct debit out of my HSBC account into another bank account (this came out on the 14th). Due to this coming out I went over my overdraft, the day after my phone bill came out (on the 15th) and I went further over my overdraft. I didn’t realise my mistake until the 16th when I instantly paid the £60 back into my account putting my back in my overdraft limits.

Having logged on today I am due to be slapped with a £50 charge for 2 transactions (£25 each) for going over. Having rung HSBC the bloke on the phone refused to give me it back after I pleaded how this has never happened before and I’ve banked with HSBC all my life.

Anyone have any tips on how I can stop this charge?

Thanks,

Tom

You can't stop the existing charges. You used the service and need to pay the agreed costs for that servce.

To avoid future costs, try to take better care of your finances and don't spend money you don't have :)

Very helpful especially as the OP would appear to have simply made a mistake and unlike myself isn't a complete numpty with his/her finances.

Why do all your recent posts contain personal attacks?

Feel free to offer the OP advice or counter the advice already offered, but please keep the sniping to yourself

On the one occasion where you gave some meaningful advice I thanked you. I'm not sniping Premier just stating a fact, that fact being that more often than not you offer NO meaningful advice, just advise the poster they have no comeback.

    You are sniping.

You are not offering any facts, just pesonal opinion that involves lack of courtesy.
And not just me you appear to snipe at.

Tommy, I would try this since you made a genuine mistake and paid money in as soon as you were aware, ie you took rational and reasonable action once you were aware of the issue. Common sense should dictate that they do at least come to a compromise with you based on no charges previously on the account, a spotless history and the fact that you corrected as soon as you were aware of the problem.
Good Luck and you may want to write to them and get a written response since telephony staff can sometimes be caught in the moment and simply not follow a common sense approach.
