If we had bothered to fund our armed forces correctly, we could have had a navy blockade (Iceland).
I personally would have done it after I hear Bjork sing for the first time.0 -
We could help Iceland to win eurovision again. That would be a terrible punishment, sending them that annoying wogan guy for litterally weeks at a time.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

You mean like last time which resulted in the loss of thousands of British jobs
Iceland's repeated expansion of its fishing grounds and its aggressive means of protecting its territory led to Royal Navy warships being deployed and the intervention of Nato, while the loss of the final war cost more than 1,000 British trawlermen and thousands more onshore their jobs.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
If you are "well funded" you dont lose, do you? It was Icelands expansion that caused the loss of jobs, not RN intervention.

Maybe Iceland should draft some anti-terrorism laws to ensure they don't have to release any funds.
I think they were treated poorly by the British government, and although I don't like the idea of a falling pound, I do like the fact Iceland's president is willing to stick it to the man.
Go Iceland!

Could we all stop shopping at Iceland as a protest vote

Well done to the people of Iceland whom have collectively prevented their governement from spending their money, and their children's money for years to come. - I applaud them all.
You wouldn't get that kind of reaction in the UK -that for sure, just everyone moaning.
Reminds me of people power on the terrorist attacks in London and Madrid.
What did London / UK do? Nothing.
What did 16 million (out of 26 million population) people do in Spain they day after their attack? - get out onto the streets and marched in solidarity against terrorism. Oh and by the way, got rid of right wing Aznar within 48 hours.
Bravo!!!0 -
But anyone happy with this is basically saying saving should be done at your own risk.
I agree, it should be but then do not feel some of the people supporting icelands actions would be happy if they lost their savings.
Lets not forget we have had to foot the bill for them not sticking to their guarantee.
Would any on here gladly lose their cash if the FSCS did the same with one of our banks and you lost all your money?
If your happy with what they have done you should be happy our government confiscated their assets to save our savers also? or am I getting the wrong end of the stick here.0
