Your main problem is that most insurers exclude war and terrorism from their cover which is going to be an issue for someone in the armed forces.
Never used them (though I know a person who used to own them) but I would imagine that NAFFI Insurance Services would have more suitable products for someone in the armed forcesAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

My hubby is in the RAF, we were with Brightgrey, but they are very expensive. We are now in the process of moving to Legal & General, they are a lot cheaper, but have asked lots of questions about his work.
He is due to go to the gulf shortly, and it's very difficult to get him covered.
We did get a quote through Naffi Insurance services, their number was in one of the RAF mags, I rang them 3 times and each time they promised to send me details of the quote, I'm still waiting.
Anyway they recommended L+G so that's who we went with, just contacted them direct to set it up.

Bright Grey are normally cheaper than L&G on like for like basis. Its possible that at this stage you are comparing an underwritten policy against a quoted policy on standard terms (i.e. L&G havent increased the premium and told you yet).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Trinity Insurance Services are part of the Club Direct Group and only work with HM Forces personnel and their families, enabling us to totally focus on your needs. The One Step range of cover offers competitively priced premiums with an unequalled level of personal service.

PAX Insurance provide insurance with war risk cover, there should be some leaflets knocking about in the Naafi somewhere.
