Advice- Made Redundant.

Just asking for a friend..

If you have been made redundant and have a partner i am aware you can only 'sign on' for 6months then you can't claim any benefit as they say your partner should support you? What if you haven't found work are you allowed to claim jsa allowance after not claiming it for a period of time after the first 6months you claimed when made redundant??

I am not sure what you are asking. Are you asking if after the first six months you then stop claiming, after the next six months without a claim can you then start again..?. So six months on six months off, six months on again..? If so i think the answer maybe no. But i am not sure about that at all. Why not ring the Jobcentre and ask or ask when you sign on next..?

Yes, are you able to claim again? I'm asking for a friend. She has been told she only was allowed to sign on for 6months. Then her husband should support her, so now she isn't claiming anything .. but i was asking to see after so long of her husband supporting her is she allowed to sign back on as she is still looking for work so will she be entitled to jsa?? As she IS still job seeking?? Sorry hope i explained it better 2nd time round :o

    Thanks

it sounds like she gets six months 'contribution based' as her NI contributuions have been high enough.

if her partners wage is deemed sufficient to support 2 people, then yes, she will get nothing thereafter until a) she gets a new job b) they seperate and live apart c) something else bad happens like a permanently debilitating illness.

you can still sign on for JSA and get your "stamp" paid but you will not receive any money

where I am being signed on for JSA gives me fees remission at college for some courses so some courses free and others reduced fee

Also if still signed on after 6 months you get "special" assistance in finding a job - if theres no jobs no special assistance will get you one but you know ............
