Sofa needs new cover

My 3-seater sofa has been used as a scratching post by my 'lovely' cats and is now looking rather tatty around the edges. Having just removed and cleaned all the covers, I need to securely cover it again to stop the kitties having another field day. I can't afford to reupholster, and am not sure about how good the slipcovers are. What I really need (urgh) are those old fashioned plastic covers that my nan used to have, that could be whipped off when people came round to reveal the pristine sofa beneath.

Any ideas where I could get them?

I don't know about plastic covers but Lidl have sofa covers coming in from 11th Jan

our cat used to wreck our recliner
until someone told me that you need to
have two patches of real leather on your chair
and the cat will not go near it.I thought this was
some kind of balmy old wives tale,but decide to
give it a go asked the upholsterer to add a couple
of pieces on the back,she never went near it again
nor any of our other cats either,they just contented
themselves with the cushions on the settee,much
cheper to replace.
