Buying a new MP3 player

Hi Eamon
I'm also going to recommend the Sansa Fuze, I bought mine from Amazon (it's an 8GB model) 12 months ago and this same model matches your budget exactly.
I can't post the link but Amazon.co.uk has a black 8GB model on sale with free delivery for £59.39
Have a read of the reviews on the Amazon site, so you can get an impression of whether this model would suit you. In my experience, the FM radio is excellent with extremely good reception, it comes with very good earphones and the music player is excellent too. As a bonus you can watch videos and view photos on the small screen (you do need to use Sansa's own software to convert files first) and battery life is very good, I use mine evry day for the commute but rarely have to recharge it more than once a week..
It's a real quality item and I have increased the memory on mine by using a micro SD card, this is a really cheap way of boosting the memory if you need to, so mine currently has a memory of 12 GB which is more than sufficient for my needs.
I don't work for Sansa or anything, I just love my little MP3 player. Do a google search for Sansa Fuze reviews and you will see that on the whole they are very positve. My wife has the Sansa clip which also sounds awsome but I prefer the screen on the Fuze.
I hope this helps!.0 -
Keep an eye on the Apple Refurb Store. If you can spend a little bit more, you might be able to get a refurbished 8 GB iPod Nano for not much more than your budget. It has a video camera and even lets you pause and rewind the radio.0

Thank you all for your replies. The Creative Zen looks promising and has all the functions that I desire.
For your info the MP3 that died was a Philips GoGear Vibe 4GB. It worked fine for over 3 months until I last tried to sync & charge. For some reason the device manager had vanished from my laptop and all my attempts to resolve the problem failed (restoring to a known good point, uninstalling & reinstalling the device manager, downloading & installing new drivers from the Philips site. I even had an online chat with somebody at Philips called Frank who suggested the reset function. All failed!).
Prior to that I did try a Sansa Fuze. My laptop couldn't find a device manager for it. I went sofar as to install Vista SP2 a month before it went on general release. A pity because this unit has a lovely interface and is easy to use.
I suspect that I may have just been unlucky and had 2 units with suspect flash drives & other issues.0 -
I have the earlier Creative Zen and use it every day in the gym and am completely happy with it. I brought a skin with a belt clip - brilliant for the gym.0

I don't understand that. The Fuze doesn't need a driver. It just plugs and plays. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Aldi had 4gb media players for £24.99 the other week, branded Medion, not too shabby if they have any left.0
