Is Windows detecting the drive? Maybe try right clicking on the drive in my computer and click "Eject" and see if that makes it open?0

the paper clip should work if you ram it in.
has the pc been moved, and the cable has come lose inside, do any lights come on it?

you've lost me.
Just in case there is any confusion, there is usually a hole on the front of the CD drive, to stick a paper clip in, which opens the drawer when a cd is stuck.
